The Limoux vineyards lie at the epicentre of the Cathar castles, which seem to stand guard on either side of the vines. Arques, Montségur, Peyrepertuse, Puilaurens, Puivert and Quéribus are some of the castles just a stone’s throw from the first vines.
And Saint-Hilaire Abbey, a jewel of Romanesque art and the world-famous birthplace of sparkling wines, can be found in the middle of the vineyards.

Three other major sites are less than 30 minutes from Limoux: The Cité de Carcassonne, the Canal du Midi and the legendary village of Rennes-le-Château – some of the most famous tourist attractions in the south of France.

The Limoux vineyards also boast year-round events, including the famous Limoux Carnival, the lengthiest one in the world, running from January to March. During three months, costumed bands and musicians wander from café to café under the medieval arcades of Limoux each and every weekend, as well as, of course, on Shrove Tuesday.
Organised since 1990 by the Sieur d’Arques winegrowers, the Toques et Clochers weekend is an event that brings together many wine lovers. The animations include concerts, tastings, a grand banquet by a Michelin-starred chef and a wine auction.
